Correlation between Luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone in Female Rats Exposure to Radium-226 Source

Abstract
Complex interactions of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) have additive roles in follicle growth and ovulation in the hypothalamus-anterior pituitary gland-reproductive organ-oocyte axis. Gonadotropin production or action impairment leads to relative or absolute deficiency of LH and FSH, which is detrimental to gametogenesis and gonadal steroid synthesis, resulting in impaired fertility. The retaining gonadotropin function was measured by changes in luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) characteristics after irradiation. Dose rates of ionizing radiation were controlled by a sealed 226Ra source to which the samples were exposed. 226Ra was chosen owing to its known radiotoxicity and carcinogenic properties, and irradiating conditions adhered to radiation safety recommendations; dosimetry standards were applied. Some of these gatekeeping health problems take years to develop. Hence this study was aimed to study radium-226 effect on two physiological determinants i.e., FSH and LH and Female Albino Rats. These results indicate that there is a decline (p<0.05) in LH and FSH levels in radiation and non-radiation groups. An analysis of the static data shows that there is a positive correlation between FSH and LH of female Rats exposed to radium-226 sources.
