Abstract
A total of 393 different samples were collected from mastitic cows and their surrounding environment including 223 milk samples from mastitic cows, 110 soil samples and 60 samples from water used for udder washing from a dairy farm in El Ameria district; Alexandria Provinceto be investigated for presence of E. coli and Streptococci (bacterial pathogens associated with environmental mastitis in cattle) and to study the effect of season on the isolation rate of detected bacteria. The results of bacteriological examination firstly, revealed that the rates of isolation of E. coli were 10.8, 22.7 and 3.3 % from milk, soil and water samples, respectively. Secondly, results revealed that the rates of isolation of Streptococci species were 4.9, 15.4 and 5.0 % from milk, soil and water samples, respectively. The effect of season on the rate of isolation was studied and revealed higher rates of E. coli isolation in winter season while higher rates of Streptococci isolation were associated with summer season.
