Abstract
This research aimed to study the economic and productive efficiency of three Freshwater species Nile tilapia, Mugil cephalus (Bouri) and Mugil capito (Tobar) into three Egyptian governorates, Kafr El-Sheikh, Behera and Alexandria. The economic and productive data of (312) production cycle were collected from a cross-sectional field survey during the period from 2017 to 2019. The results of our survey showed that, locality has a significant effect on productive and economic efficiency of the three Freshwater species under investigation. Alexandria governorate recorded the highest total production and highest total costs while, Kafr El-Sheik governorate recorded the lowest total production. Alexandria and Behera recorded the highest value (38.19, 37.66 L.E/kg) for total return /kg, respectively. While, the lowest value recorded in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate (36.08 L.E/Kg). Behera governorate recorded the highest net profit/kg (15.79 L.E) while, Alexandria governorate recorded the lowest value for net profit/kg (9.59 LE/kg). Mugil cephalus recorded the highest selling price into the three governorates while, tilapia recorded the lowest selling price. From the current study we concluded that, even though the high production costs of fish farming, it still a profitable business. So, more investment and facilities for capital access is important to expand and development of this sector. It is strongly recommended to encourage the government to invest more in aquaculture production in studied areas.

Key words: Key words: productive efficiency, Freshwater, economic, net profit, governorates.
