Mandibular Fracture: A Clinical Study in Dromedary Camels

Abstract
This study aimed to record the occurrence of mandibular fracture in camel According to age, sex, breed, cause and site of fracture and evaluation of bilateral intra oral plating by Dynamic compression plate (D C P) for treatment of bilateral mandibular fracture .

A TOTAL NUMBER OF 120 CASES of mandibular fractures in single humped camels were presented at wadi- Eldwaser city - RiYadh- Saudi arabia - veterinary clinic during the period from march 2017 to july 2019 were included in this study , most of cases by mobile medically equipped car .
this cases were under go diagnosed by case history, clinical symptoms and using of the X-ray.
our results concluded that , the fracture of lower jaw in cameles most common fracture
occur in adult camels more than 5 years old , especially in males during the rut season due to fighting of the males , and also can occur due to any accidents that causes fracture to the lower jaw, the main symptoms of fracture of lower jaw includes the lower jaw dropping, the lower jaw is mobile, bleeding in recent period of fractures and no feeding. ORIF using DCP or normal plate system is reliable treatment of fractured mandible either at level of canine or at first premolar at angle of ramus, enabling immediate functional recovery with excellent out comes and clinical results. The technique is safe, enable stable, sound bone healing with almost , no clinical complications observed during a mean follow up period 12 months.
